1. What is COB strip light


COB stands for Chips on Board, which means that the chip is directly packaged on the PCB. The COB light strip is the light strip that encapsulates the chip on the flexible board. Chips are mostly flip-chip, which are linearly solidified on the PCB board, and then a layer of packaging glue mixed with phosphor powder is directly dropped on the surface of the chip. The appearance is like a strip of ramen sticking to the PCB board. The light emitted by the chip is refracted, reflected, and interacted with the phosphor in the encapsulation colloid, and the colloid evenly emits light of different colors and color temperatures.


2. The difference between COB light strips and bead light strips


①Due to the structural characteristics of the COB light strip, the light-emitting surface is a linear colloid; while the ordinary lamp bead type light strip, its structure is a luminous lamp bead, which is attached to the PCB board. Therefore, the light emitted by the COB light strip is much more uniform, linear, and has no light spots;
② Since the COB chip is directly solidified on the PCB, the heat of the chip can be quickly transferred to the PCB. Therefore, the heat dissipation speed of the COB light strip is faster than that of the lamp bead type lamp, and the light decay of the COB light strip is smaller and the life is longer;
③ The light-emitting angle of the light-emitting surface of the COB light bar can reach 180°.

4. Installation precautions


①COB encapsulation colloid is directly exposed to the outside, it is made of silicone, and the hardness is relatively soft. During installation, avoid contact with sharp objects, so as not to scratch the luminous surface and affect the luminous effect;
②The colloidal material is easily contaminated with dust and difficult to handle, so when installing, pay attention to keeping the light strip clean. If it is contaminated with dust, you can use a cotton swab to stick some alcohol and wipe it gently.
③ During the installation process of the COB light strip, try to install it in place at one time, and do not have too many repeated tearing and pasting operations. Because the COB light strip chip is directly packaged on the PCB board, the chip size is very small, and too much tearing action will cause the necrosis of the COB light strip chip.
